Is your teenager having trouble coping with friends, relationships, family, life, school expectations, work load?

Teenagers often experience tremendous stress. Teenagers feel stressed when they see a situation as demanding, dangerous, difficult or painful. Significant physical and emotional changes occur during adolescence causing a lot of stress and tension.. Academic pressure, career decisions, measuring up to peers, pressure to try out drugs and sex, and try specific hairstyles and clothes all add to the pressure of the teenage years. Stress overload can lead to anxiety, aggression and even substance abuse like drugs and alcohol.

A Teen Stress Management Program will teach skills and techniques to help the person relax and become less anxious. Their perception of their own issues need to be discussed and hopefully altered to become more positive and acceptable. Having an open mind to learn about themselves and what other options they have to choose from, will help teens be in control of their behaviour and their choices. Grades, peer pressure, sexual encounters, decision making and parents are high on the list for stress triggers for teens.

School attendance, homework, friendships and parental involvement are all affected by a teen that is stressed.

A Stress Management Program for Teenagers will address school demands and frustrations, negative self image, problems with friends, separation of parents, chronic illness, grief, changing schools and financial problems. Relaxation exercises can also prove to be very beneficial and is a part a Teenagers Stress Management Program. Rehearsing and practicing coping skills for success is very helpful.

The Teenage Years are difficult for many. They need support, understanding and validation of their feelings. When Teenagers learn how be in control and responsible for themselves – their feelings, thoughts, actions, words and bodies, a positive change in attitude becomes very evident.

Has your teenager been a victim of bullying in any way? Restorative Justice Circles will help the perpetrator learn how to understand how their behaviour has affected all people involved. Real Justice is done during this meeting of everyone affected and the victim also receives what they need to move on with their lives. These circles take their format from Native Justice Circles. They have a profound affect on the victim and the perpetrator. Talk to Janet about how they work and the possibility of setting one up for you and your teen.
