SUPER Woman Syndrome

woman stress SUPER Woman Syndrome
Women statistically hold their stress in their shoulders and in their neck. This is why you tend to experience more migraines than men, from severe tension and stress. The female genre, suffer both physically and emotionally from stress and tend to feel it in both ways fairly quickly. Aches and pains, fatigue, headaches, stomach problems and high blood pressure are a few of the physical symptoms. Moodiness, crying, lack of motivation, guilt, relationship problems and substance abuse are a few emotional and behavioural signs that you are feeling stressed. However, you are different than men in that you talk about it, you worry, you become busier than ever, you try to do you best to convince yourself that it will go away, it is not worth doing anything about, it isn’t as bad as it seems and/or you deserve it and you can handle it.

Super Woman Syndrome
Is this you?

The signs

She never or seldom says no to anyone
Boundaries are something other people have
It doesn't matter the type of rescue needed she's there no matter what
It doesn't matter what she is doing, she will leave it to rescue another
She takes on extra work to alleviate someone else's work load
She has a desperate need to be liked, wanted and needed
She can do it all. Take care of the home, the kids, the car, the career, the vacation, and on and on. (she could even do it standing on her head)

The symptoms

Tired and overwhelmed
Goes in circles like running on a treadmill
Feels out of integrity often
Wears a smile most of the time
Is seeking a quick fix for a problem that has been long standing
Seeks outside approval regularly
Has feelings of being trapped, but would never tell anyone
Resentment seems to be an every day feeling
Negative feelings are seldom expressed
She feeds herself by overdoing in some way, participating in one or more unhealthy habits.

Are you relating to the signs and symptoms above? If so, it is very likely you are in need of a supersized dose of self reflection and self care. It isn't that helping others is inherently wrong. It just takes a great toll on our emotional and physical needs when it is done out of a desperate quest to be liked and or loved.

Here are some suggestions and ideas

Decide that you are going to stop looking for outside approval and find it within

Get yourself a massage, healing hot stone treatment

Give yourself the gift of a guided meditation that takes you to your inner core

Learn about your emotions, and the old beliefs that are no longer serving you, and how you can become your own best friend

Acknowledge yourself for all that you do

Start a gratitude journal and write in it all the great things you are grateful for about you

Take note that what ever you decide to do for yourself that self reflection and self care are a life long pursuit. It is by regular exercise that we strengthen our physique and it is by regular exercise of our own emotional needs that we strengthen our integrity and find peace within.
